What is Kijiji?

Kijiji is the Swahili word for “village” – and that’s just what this all-in-one website is, a village! On Kijiji, you can find:

• Automobiles

And just about anything else you can think of! If you want to know what’s happening in your area, if you’re looking to rent an apartment, if you’d like to find out how to sell your car, or if you just want to meet new friends, Kijiji is where you do it.

Kijiji was originally launched outside the United States, and its home countries now include:

However, since 2007, Kijiji has also been available in America.

How big is Kijiji?

Kijiji now has over 11 million users per month, gets over a billion hits per month, has more than 5 million listings available at any given time, and gets over 120,000 new listings per month. All of this in only five years!

Kijiji is growing fast, and some experts suggest that due to its solid foundation in multiple countries, may one day outpace Craigslist as he largest provider of classified advertisements on the Internet.

Kijiji is also an environment-friendly company, and exerts effort in its local community listings to remind users to recycle rather than throw things away. This translates well into a marketing approach, since people who want to sell things are often interested in creating a classified advertisement!
